The ultimate family portrait
Imagine having that one perfect family portrait displayed on your wall that not only captures everyone you love the most, but also one which you’ll never tire of looking at everyday!
Whether you’re here for your very first family portrait ever, or perhaps seeking an update as your family grows and changes, rest assured, this will be one very special piece worthy of being displayed on your wall.
Our hand-painted Impasto Photography portraits are much more than family photographs— they’re works of art!
Combining photographs for the perfect family shot
Getting that perfect family shot isn’t always easy. With many individuals involved, there's always a chance that one person may sneeze at just the wrong moment. But here's the good news...
We have the ability to blend the best elements of different photographs to create your ultimate final image. Since the portrait is hand-painted, we have more flexibility to exercise our artistic license, all while making it look like it was supposed to be that way all along.
Yes, we can fix that unfortunate blink or swap in a better shot of someone with their eyes open without a hitch!
And if scheduling conflicts arise and not everyone can make it on the same day, we can conduct multiple photo sessions and combine the images from different days later on.
For families up to 6 people
We are able to accommodate a family of up to 6 people, however, if you’d like to include more than that, please get in touch.
The limits on numbers is more a rough guideline to ensure that each person isn’t too small to paint. If there’s smaller children in the front row, pets, or babies held, this is usually totally fine. As long as we don’t have to reduce the dimensions that each head occupies on the canvas to fit everyone in, we’re good.
Family Portrait FAQ’S

One of the easiest ways to get everyone in one place is to time it with a holiday, long weekend, or evening when people are already a bit more free. Another good option? Plan the shoot around a family event you’re already having. And if there isn’t one coming up—make one! Creating a little occasion helps get everyone in the right frame of mind for the portrait too.
Here’s why planning a little event helps the photoshoot go smoothly

One of the best things about adding the painted touch? You get to hide all the hard work behind the scenes. Unlike a straight-up photo where you’re stuck choosing the one shot where no one’s blinking or pulling a weird face, we can merge together the best parts of different images. But it’s not just about stitching a bunch of solos together—it’s about creating one strong group portrait that actually tells a story. Your family story.

The focus of your portrait should be your family—not the outfits. So, it’s best to go with colours that sit nicely within your chosen colour scheme, and skip any loud patterns or standout details that might steal the show. (Unless, of course, you want someone to stand out—then we can lean into that!)

There’s a few ways to keep the portrait on the down-low. We could create the digital-stage portrait with everyone else and leave a gap in the composition for the surprise person to be placed in later.
