The art of hand painted memories.

If you've ever had a professional photoshoot before, you know how special those memories can be. But what if you could take it one step further and turn it into a one-of-a-kind painting? At our studio, we can do just that. Intrigued how it all works? Keep reading to find out how.

1: plan

Is the beauty of art in the eye of the beholder or in the hands of the creator?

We think it’s a bit of both. You’re the expert on your loved ones and what you like, but we’re the experts on bringing your artistic vision to life. So, let’s put our heads together!

We don’t want to just create any old artwork, we want to make something that you’re going to absolutely adore! So, let’s start off by chatting either in person or over the phone about everything that’s going to make your portrait perfect. We’ll talk about your loved ones, their personalities, where you want to show off your artwork, and any of those personal preferences that are going to make your portrait stand out. We'll work together to explore different options and compositions and even sketch out a few ideas as we go.

We’ll be with you every step of the way, giving you advice on colours, clothing, composition, scale, and placement, so that we can make your hopes and dreams a reality.

By the time we are through, we’ll have a plan ready that covers all the nitty-gritty details to make sure you're fully prepared for your photoshoot.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

  • Before the photo session, it's incredibly crucial for us to understand our subjects and truly understand their relationships with each other. We believe that getting to know our subjects beforehand allows us to make informed artistic choices that truly capture the essence of their personality and dynamic.

For instance, a lively and energetic child would be best photographed in action, showcasing their spirited nature, whereas a more introverted child may need extra attention to feel safe and at ease during the session.

These considerations heavily influence the type of equipment we bring along and how the photography session will be conducted.

  • Perhaps you're looking to create a certain mood or atmosphere, or maybe you simply want to avoid a particular detail. Whichever way your preferences lie, we take the time to truly listen and uncover your desires.

  • At our portrait photoshoots, we take great care in styling our subjects' clothing, hair, and makeup. Our top priorities are ensuring that the focus of the artwork remains on the subject's faces, and achieving a harmonious artistic flow between the figures of the portrait and the background.

Our approach to styling involves providing guidance on what to wear to achieve these desired outcomes. We understand that not everyone may have the perfect wardrobe for a photoshoot, so let us guide you!

  • We understand that displaying your portrait in your home is just as important as the portrait itself. You may already have a vision of where you want to display your portrait, or perhaps you're unsure. Either way, we're here to help.

Whether you're looking to create a warm and cozy atmosphere in your living room or a serene and relaxing ambiance in your bedroom, or perhaps just expert advice on the type of artwork that would best suit your desired wall area. We'll help you design the perfect artwork to complement your space and existing decor.

  • The planning process is essential to creating an artwork that reflects your individuality and tastes. We take great care in working with you to uncover what type of artwork would make your heart sing, encompassing every detail; from the dress and styling to the composition and artistic direction.

Once we've established a plan, we'll send you all the details you need to know to prepare for the photoshoot. This will be an opportunity for you to review the plan and provide any feedback or suggestions.

  • This planning session is your opportunity to get all your questions answered and any uncertainties cleared up. We'll go over everything in detail, leaving no stone unturned, so you can feel confident and informed about the entire process.

Select colour scheme

Digital paintings of a young boy and girl. The boy has short dark hair, light skin, and is smiling, wearing a dark shirt. The girl has long brown hair, light skin, and is wearing a turtleneck sweater, with a slight smile.
Digital paintings of two young girls, one with curly dark hair and the other with straight blonde hair.

Our portraits come in two striking yet classic color schemes. You can choose between "Dark and Dramatic" for an edgy and sophisticated look or "Light and Fresh" for a bright and airy feel.

We want your portrait to be more than just a stunning piece of artwork - we want it to be a seamless part of your home's decor. That's why we incorporate small pops of color throughout the painting, sampled from colors found in both the figures in the portrait and the colors in your home. This creates a cohesive and harmonious look that ties everything together. We’re like matchmakers for your walls!

It's important to note that the color scheme you choose must be decided before we begin the painting process, as it cannot be changed later. So, take your time and choose the color scheme that speaks to you and your home's aesthetic.

If you’re happy with the artwork plan, and ready to get things started, we'll need to secure your photographic session with a $200 booking fee.

This covers the cost of your photographic session, ensuring that you'll have dedicated time with our talented photographer to capture those amazing shots.

2: photograph

Leave your shoes at the door and step into the perfect shot.

We know how stressful it can be to get everyone ready and out the door, which is why we come to you! That's right, you can stay in the comfort of your own home and let us take care of the rest.

Just like a sketch, we use the Photographic Session to capture the images that will form the foundation of your masterpiece.

We'll bring all the equipment we need to set up a mini in-home photographic studio, so you don't have to worry about a thing.

But here's the best part - we don't believe in forced poses and stiff smiles. No, no, no. We want your photos to be natural, spontaneous, and truly capture the essence of you and your loved ones. And what better way to do that than in the familiar and relaxed environment of your own home?

Because let’s be honest, most of us feel a bit anxious when it comes to having our picture taken. Maybe it's because of past experiences, feeling self-conscious, or simply not feeling photogenic. Just remember- it’s our job and responsibility to make you look good; not yours!

Oh, and, at the Photographic Session, we're not just there to take pictures of you and your family. We'll also take some photographs of your furniture, walls, and other decor pieces to find the perfect pops of colour to incorporate into your portrait.

Select the image that steals your heart.

After the photoshoot, we'll carefully examine every single image to curate a shortlist of the very best.

And now comes the moment of truth - the responsibility falls on you to choose the one image that will become a timeless work of art. The one that captures the essence of you and your loved ones, frozen in time for eternity. Question is: which one will speak to you the most?

With your selection made, it’s time for our digital artist to get to work and create magic!

Norah Pearson will take your chosen image and carefully hand-paint it using our custom-made digital brushes that mimics the look of real paint. She'll craft an exquisite artwork with all of your preferences in mind, bringing your vision to life with every stroke.

But we won't just send it to you online, oh no! We'll organize an exclusive meetup where we'll unveil your digital-stage artwork to you in all its glory.

3: paint

A split image of a young girl with curly hair, one half in a regular photograph and the other in an artistic, painterly style.

Are you ready to be amazed?

In anticipation of the grand reveal, prepare yourself a bag of popcorn and some drumroll music, for it’s time for the very first glimpse of your artwork.

Although it’s not the final product, and lacks the intricate details of hand-painted strokes, this digital sneak peek still holds the power to captivate and inspire.

This is also your opportunity to make any changes or adjustments, as the physical paint has yet to be added, so if you feel something about the likeness is off, or you’d prefer slight changes to the colors or strokes, now’s your chance

4: present

The art of creation is not just in the image itself, but in how it is presented.

Not only will you get a sneak peek of your stunning artwork, but we'll also have samples of our completed painted works and products on hand.

At this viewing session, we'll help you navigate the various production options available so you can choose the perfect way to showcase your unique piece. And when you've made your decision, we'll take care of the orders and payments right then and there.

your selections to make:

  • When it comes to artwork, size really does matter!

The size of the artwork you choose should be proportionate to the size of the wall or the space where you plan to hang it.

However, the size of the artwork can also change the mood of the room it’s in. A larger piece will exude a stronger presence, while a smaller one creates a more intimate feel.

We'll help you find the perfect size to achieve the right proportions and create the atmosphere you're looking for.

  • Creating your artwork digitally has its advantages, the most beautiful one being the ability to produce more than one! Whether you want to share the joy with extended family or need to adorn multiple spaces, we’ve got you covered.

We can replicate your artwork for multiple locations, ensuring its beauty is spread far and wide. And that's not all - we can also reproduce your art in a range of formats, including exquisite giclee fine art prints and beautiful gift cards. These reproductions can make excellent gifts.

  • Whether you prefer the security of paying with cash, the convenience of a debit card, or the flexibility of partial payments over time, we have options to suit your needs.

When you're ready to proceed, simply make your payment (or initiate the payment plan) at the viewing session. We must note here that we will begin producing your artwork once the balance has been paid in full.

The production process can take up to 6 weeks, but fear not, we'll keep you in the loop every step of the way.

To give you a feel for how it all comes together, we’ve outlined all the nitty gritty details that go into creating your masterpiece/s below.

Order test prints.

The initial step in producing your artwork involves ordering test prints.

Colors on screens may not be accurately represented when printed.

But don't worry, we're dedicated to making your artwork perfect! After reviewing the test prints, we'll tweak the colors in the artwork file if need be to ensure your artwork comes out just the way we envisioned it.

Print final artwork.

With great care and precision, we may order multiple rounds of test prints to ensure the highest quality for your artwork. Once we're satisfied with the outcome, we give our print lab the green light to bring your vision to life on a variety of exquisite printed articles (as per your order) such as canvases, giclee fine art prints, and gift cards.

Add physically painted details.

Our process of adding physical paint and texture to your canvas is a true labor of love. We start by using a texturizer medium to create thick, rich textures like the master painters of old. Each brushstroke and palette knife mark is carefully crafted to bring out the depth and character of the portrait.

Next, we lovingly apply paint to specific details and accents, enhancing the beauty and personality of your artwork. And to protect your masterpiece from the sun, we finish with a UV protector spray that also seals in the paint and ensures your artwork can be enjoyed for generations to come.
